Help to feed Hungry and Malnourished children!

By Nisha | Project Leader

Dear Global Givers,

For two years, iPartner India, through your unwavering support, has been a driving force for the ‘Help to feed Hungry and Malnourished children!’ initiative aimed at supporting 100 street children in Old Delhi part of India.

We are pleased to provide you with an update on our progress since the last quarterly report.

Menu Plan:

The feeding programme ensures that street children receive two nutritious meals daily, tailored to their preferences. The breakfast menu varies throughout the week, offering dishes like Aloo ki Bhujia Paratha (Fried Flat Bread mixed with potato and a friend Indian savoury snack) with Tea on Mondays, Bread Omelette with Tea on Tuesdays, and Sabzi Puri (vegetable and deep-fried bread) with Tea on Wednesdays. Thursdays feature Pasta with Tea, followed by Vegetable Sandwich with Biscuits and Tea on Fridays. Saturdays offer a wholesome meal of Porridge with Banana and Tea.

For lunch, the children enjoy a variety of hearty and balanced meals. Mondays feature vegetable Tahri (yellow rice dish) with Raita (spiced yogurt) and Pickle, while Tuesdays offer a mix of vegetables paired with Roti (Flat Bread). On Wednesdays, the children are served Rajma (Kidney Beans) with Rice and Pickle, and on Thursdays, they enjoy Egg Curry with Rice and Salad. Fridays provide Aloo Gobi (Potato and Cabbage) with Roti and Salad, and Saturdays conclude the week with Dal (Pulses), Rice, and Pickle.

Food Distribution Summary:

From April 1, 2024, to July 23, 2024, we successfully distributed a total of 15,156 meals to street children. Over 79 days of distribution, 7,429 breakfasts and 7,727 lunches were provided. The meals were consistently served according to the planned schedule, with April seeing the highest distribution of 4,653 meals, followed by 2,762 in May, 4,243 in June, and 3,498 in July (up to the 23rd). This effort ensured that 148 children, 74 girls and 74 boys, received regular, nutritious meals, contributing to their overall well-being and stability.

However, these efforts were not shy of some challenges that were faced by the team on the ground. During the reporting period, we faced several challenges in the food distribution process. Irregular attendance of some children meant that they were not always present to receive their meals, which created challenges in preventing food wastage. These children live on the streets and sometimes they are forced by their parents to support them with daily wages, work and even begging.

Additionally, there were occasional delays from vendors in delivering food to the community due to personal issues, which impacted the timely distribution of meals.
We are deeply grateful to your generosity over the past two years. Your contributions have filled empty stomachs and also brought stability, hope, and a sense of security to these children's lives. As we continue our mission, we kindly request your continued support to sustain and expand this vital initiative.

Thank you for being a crucial part of this journey, and for your commitment to making a lasting difference in the lives of those who need it most.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Team iPartner India
