As reported by the World Health Organization, from the 3rd of January till the the 3rd of December 2021, there have been 371.803 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 6.784 deaths. A total of 8.780.714 vaccine doses have been administered.
The political situation in the country sadly isn’t getting better, the Nobel Peace prize-winning Prime Minister Abiy is determined to lead the country’s army to the battlefront against the defence forces of the northern Tigray region. In a Twitter post he even invited Ethiopian children to rise up for the country and meet at the battlefront. We are very worried for the future of these children and hope the conflict ends soon with a peace agreement promoted by the international community.
This has been a year-long conflict in one of the worst periods possible, the spread of Covid might worsen it all. The 2nd of November 2021, the government introduced a state of emergency lasting 6 months. Since then, 1000 people of Tigrayan origin have been detained.
In August, workshops, individual and group meetings started again. The kids are doing better thanks to an increase of psychological meetings. Our local partner is now asking donations to buy bedsheets and blankets, the winters are very hard in Addis Abeba, the city is located 2.000 meters over the sea and the houses were the kids and their families live are built badly. We hope you’re willing to continue supporting our work!
Thank you, donors, for all you give us! Thanks to your kindness we have collected 70 USD dollars in the last three months.
