Summary of project activities

We appreciate all donors for the support of the project. Global Giving team has enabled the organization to receive support to manage the project and effectively implement the quarter’s work plan. The report details implemented activities in the month of November, 2017 to February, 2018. It is compiled and disseminated to all our stakeholders, partners and funders to enable them get the progress of the project.

Current status of Support 320 orphans with goats project
KADO is providing trainings, breading, and dissemination of the goats to another line of selected OVCs and their households in goat’s management. We have sampled a few of the Orphans and vulnerable children to be given goats from the former set of beneficiaries. However, the rate of breeding is low because of limited breeder He-goats and this has made the project to realize limited impact. Some of our OVCs in schools study without uniform, school meals and at times lack scholastic materials due to limited household income of the caregivers and lack Income generating activities that we are trying to gap.

In the quarter November, 2017 to February, 2018, the organization managed to execute the following;

  1. Trained 30 Parish Based Volunteers in Goats Rearing and Management in Kibuku district
  2. Secured from the previous beneficiaries and distributed 10 goats to 10 orphans in Kibuku district.
  3. Did (four) 4 Quality Assurance visits, Monitoring and Evaluation visits.

Challenges

  1. High cost of improved breeder goats: The organization relies majorly on donor funding and each donor has priority areas for their funds.
  2. Low project cash flow.
    We have got limited donors funding the project and the communities where the project is located, most of the people are subsistence farmers with low income to make community contribution.

Recommendation

We kindly request all well-wishers to be part of us and have a helping hand to this project for the social economic welfare of our OVCs in Kibuku and Budaka districts

Werecommend that we set up a permanent home for this children so that they can be properly looked after and monitored.

Testimony from one beneficiary
This testimony is from Trivia who is the daughter of the late Magino of Kaderuna Sub County in Budaka district, Eastern Uganda. Trivia is a 12 year old girl in primary five. Trivia received books, a set, pens, and a new uniform in addition to a she goat she received from the organization in December, 2017. Trivia tells our project staff that, ‘I am going to study after all KADO takes care of me, they contribute to my school fees, buy for me scholastic materials among others’. The story explains the work of KADO in relation to our project of support 320 OVCs with improved goats in Uganda.
