Thousands of Nepalese labourers working over the border in India were left stranded and unable to return to their families due to the lockdown. This left many families in Nepal without any income.
Our partners like ADWAN worked hard to identify families on both sides facing these extreme difficulties, ensuring they were supplied with the food and resources they needed when they needed it.
Thank you for continuing to support us to reach these most isolated families.
Ful's husband's modest salary from working as a security guard in India wasn't enough to lift them and their child out of poverty but could, at least, keep food on the table. That was, until the lockdown.
Jobless, her husband was now stranded in India and unable to return to them in Nepal. Ful lost all means of support and, with no money for food nor land to grow crops, things became desperate.
The team at ADWAN, Karuna's partner, remember the tears in her eyes when she told them she needed food urgently. Fortunately, they were able to give Ful all she needed to wait out the lockdown. Her family was one of thousands that received emergency food aid from your donations.
With gratitude,
