Safe Accommodations Thanks to Your Support
By Stacy Dry Lara | Executive Director
Dear Teachers for Rural Future Supporters,
The generous donations to the Graduate Women International Teachers for Rural Futures projects throughout 2018 have been greatly appreciated and have allowed our five student teachers to continue their studies, along with safe accommodations and adequate food. As the 2018 holiday season is coming to a close, all five of our student teachers are preparing to return from holidays with their families in the rural district of Buyende in Eastern Uganda to Makerere University in Kampala where they will continue to study. Soon two of our girls will graduate – thanks to their hard work and your generous contributions.
We are so grateful to GlobalGiving and the support of our donors.

Dear Donors,
A new semester is beginning at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda. The GWI student teachers have enrolled in their classes and, thanks to you, our donors, their tuition has been mostly sponsored. This semester the girls will be taking practical classes along with courses such as economics and politics, so they gain an understanding of the world around them.
On 11 October the international community celebrates girls with International Day of the Girl. We invite you to join GWI in this celebration of the potential of girls and their empowerment through education.
Your contributions matter and we are ever-grateful. We appreciate your additional contributions to our girls for books and stipend. Join us 11 October, and every day to celebrate girls, their potential through education.

GWI Students Graciously Attend Summer Internship
By Stacy Dry Lara | Executive Director, Graduate Women International
The GWI Teachers for Rural Futures students are in the midst of a summer internship that aims to assess their achievement thus far in the teaching programme at Makerere University. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, these five amazing and talented young women are gaining practical experience as teachers and university credits this summer at this internship hosted at Lunar International College in their home district of Buyende in Uganda. According to one of our students, “It's (the internship) is going on quite well although we have faced many challenges including additional financial assistance but we have managed to bear some”.
Another one of the girls, wrote to me saying, “Thank you, and Graduate Women International for the support you have rendered to us because ever since you started funding is there is a transformation and at least a step ahead from where were and looking ahead to transforming more girls to be like us”.
GWI adds to this by expressing our sincere thanks to all of our donors - current and future.
