Thanks to your support, we have been able to transform the lives of individuals with disabilities, like Selvakumari, who face immense challenges in their daily lives. Selvakumari, a deaf woman living alone despite having a family, has endured years of neglect and isolation.

When Selvakumari attended an eye check-up in March, she shared her struggles with blurred vision. The doctors diagnosed her with cataracts and recommended immediate surgery. However, her circumstances posed significant barriers. Her family refused to support her, and government hospitals required an attendant for the procedure. With no one to accompany her, Selvakumari felt hopeless.

Thanks to your generosity, a solution was found. With the help of our partners, the found Selvakumari a free eye surgery camp organized by an optical shop that did not require an attendant. Our team on the ground in India patiently explained the process to her in sign language, ensuring she understood the importance of post-surgery rest. Selvakumari committed to taking care of herself during recovery.

The air around him hums with the steady buzz of electricity. Sparks cascade like a fiery waterfall, lighting up the dim workspace as Anbu leans over his project. His gloved hands grip the welding torch with precision, the blue-white arc reflecting in his protective visor. Each weld he makes shows his skill, a craft he has honed despite challenges that would have silenced many.

Life hasn’t been easy for Anbu and his wife, Lakshmi, who is also hearing impaired. Together, they’ve faced a world that isn’t built for people like them—one where communication barriers can lead to missed opportunities and countless struggles. Anbu’s work as a welder relied heavily on borrowing equipment from others. Many times, he found himself unable to take on projects because a welding machine wasn’t available for hire. Those missed chances meant days with no income and added stress to an already precarious financial situation.

Because of your gift to help people with disabilities, Anbu received his very own welding machine! No longer constrained by the availability of rented machines, Anbu could now accept every job, complete orders on time, and save the money he once spent on hiring equipment.

“Now I am able to earn more income, since the hiring charge is saved, and also, I am able to complete all the orders on time. Thank you,” says Anbu, his gratitude shining as brightly as the sparks from his machine.
