Lydia
When Lydia was 6 years old, her job was to watch the few family goats in northern Kenya. Every day she also watched her brother walk to and from school. This made her feel sad because she wanted to go to school, too. However, her only parent, her mother was unable to raise the school fees to educate two children. Luckily, Lydia’s mother heard of our partner’s work and Lydia joined Nchiru Children’s Village in 2009. Now, Lydia is a high school student who says, “I am actually determined to study well and to achieve my goals and be able to help other children who are struggling.”
Jonas
Jonas became a street boy at the age of 10 after the death of his parents. He slept in cardboard boxes in the cold at night and searched for discarded food. Today, Jonas is in 6th grade and writes “I am really working hard to brighten my future and make my school proud…I believe I will make it in life. I would like to become a civil engineer in the future so that I can make a difference in life and change the face of my family.”
Thank you for making a difference to 900+ school children and youth
Thank you for making it possible for these young adults to stay in school to pursue their dreams. With your funding, our partner is expanding their fish program to feed fish to the 900+ children and youth at their schools and, as the project develops, to sell fish as a small source of revenue for the organization. Your donations were used to purchase fish cages and nets and to buy the components for fish feeds (shrimp, wheat bran, sunflower seeds, soybeans, millet and maize) which are ground and formed into pellets. Thank you for sustaining this fish program and for making a difference to the school children and youth who benefit from it!
