This quarter has seen some exciting developments for the Trust's projects thanks to the fantastic support and donations received through GlobalGiving
- The Seychelles have successfully completed their creation of a Carbon Neutral base. The Curieuse base has implemented a photovoltaic system, designed with the remit of supplying 24hrs electricity a day seven days a week, being highly corrosive resistant to cope with island beachfront conditions and to be maintenance free and easy operate. The solar system works perfectly saving nearly $7000 annually in fuel bills as well as avoiding 9 tons of Co² emissions.
- We have also been able to close the Cyclone Evan disaster recovery fund with almost $6000 FJD fundraised. In the aftermath of the cyclone GVI Fiji has been able to provide resources, funding and volunteer labour to assist the communities in their recovery, including delivering 1964kg of dry food to communities in need.
- Cape Town are busy digging and constructing a new turf area on project thanks to the generous donation of an ex-volunteer and her sister
- Thanks to all the funds raised by Mexico, they have begun building their recycling centre!
- We have some exciting new programs now live!
- 'Protect the threatened White Rhino in South Africa'
- 'Protect dogs from malnutrition and disease in Fiji.'
For those of you that are not aware, on this day (from 9am Eastern standard time in the USA) all donations through GlobalGiving USA will be matched at 50% for the Charitable Trust. Help us make an additional difference on this day, share our story with family and friends. We always love inviting people into the GVI family.
Many thanks for all you have done to support the Charitable Trust

The first quarter of 2013 is over and the Global Vision International Charitable Trust has had a promising start to the year! We have seen a steady flow of donations thanks to supporters such as you for numerous projects and our Recycling centre project in Mexico had great success in the GlobalGiving Bonus Day challenge.
We have launched our new fundraising initiative for the Trust; Adventure Challenges! In either Mexico, Costa Rica, South Africa, India, Nepal and Thailand, these offer those wanting to offer a higher level of support to the GVI Charitable Trust projects, the opportunity to spend a week wither trekking, kayaking, cycling and even paragliding to raise funds with the amazing added bonus of getting to actually see a Trust project first hand, to see the fantastic work being done and where your donations are being spent. This is a unique opportunity to visit Charity projects so please do get in touch with me directly if you are interested at info@gvi.org
Thank you all for your fundraising efforts and donations and we look forward to reporting continued success in the coming months. For more information, please see our website www.gvi.org

Happy New Year
By Sophie Birkett | Charitable Trust manager
Happy New Year! We hope 2013 has started well for you. Here at the Global Vision International Charitable Trust we are looking forward to an exciting year! Despite 2012 being a challenging year for fundraising, we saw a good growth in donations thanks to supporters such as yourself. We have seen 5 of the projects we have helped grow establish themselves independently, launched new projects in Nepal, seen one of the schools we support in Fiji awarded Blue School status, from the International Rainwater Harvesting Alliance. We have supported both Fiji and Thailand through tough times and disaster appeals and seen a large number of participants fundraising to raise extra funds for the projects.
We are busy at the moment working on new charity challenges in Mexico, Costa Rica, South Africa, India, Nepal and Thailand. These will involve participants spending 4-6 days trekking, kayaking, cycling and even paragliding to raise funds for projects in those countries, with the amazing added bonus of getting to spend a day on that project to see the fantastic work being done. Keep an eye on our website for these going live shortly!
Thank you all for your fundraising efforts and donations and we look forward to reporting continued success in the coming months. For more information, please see our website www.gvi.org
