Happy New Year
By Sophie Birkett | Charitable Trust manager
Happy New Year! We hope 2013 has started well for you. Here at the Global Vision International Charitable Trust we are looking forward to an exciting year! Despite 2012 being a challenging year for fundraising, we saw a good growth in donations thanks to supporters such as yourself. We have seen 5 of the projects we have helped grow establish themselves independently, launched new projects in Nepal, seen one of the schools we support in Fiji awarded Blue School status, from the International Rainwater Harvesting Alliance. We have supported both Fiji and Thailand through tough times and disaster appeals and seen a large number of participants fundraising to raise extra funds for the projects.
We are busy at the moment working on new charity challenges in Mexico, Costa Rica, South Africa, India, Nepal and Thailand. These will involve participants spending 4-6 days trekking, kayaking, cycling and even paragliding to raise funds for projects in those countries, with the amazing added bonus of getting to spend a day on that project to see the fantastic work being done. Keep an eye on our website for these going live shortly!
Thank you all for your fundraising efforts and donations and we look forward to reporting continued success in the coming months. For more information, please see our website www.gvi.org

GVI CT News Update
By Steve Gwenin | GVI Charitable Trust Director
Here at the Global Vision International Charitable Trust we must be one of the few charities and NGOs to be sad to see the end of 2012. Despite being a challenging year for fundraising, again, we have seen good growth in donations and accordingly impact. We have seen 5 of the projects we have helped grow establish themselves independently and will now watch them operate independently and hopefully succeed well into the future.
We have launched new projects in Nepal which have seen instant success in assisting Nepalese school children to attend school, and are now ready to help our friends in Kenya not only set up their own school but also purchase the land where it will be, once we find suitable land! In Fiji, we have seen one of the schools we support awarded Blue School status, from the International Rainwater Harvesting Alliance. Globally, our work and your donations have now helped to secure more than 500,000 million litres of rainwater harvesting capacity. One example of how this work can make a difference in expanding the opportunities for people can be seen through this recent report from our team in Kenya.
Thank you all for your fundraising efforts and donations and we look forward to reporting continued success in the coming months. For more information, please see our website www.gvi.org
All the very best

Aiming for 1,000,000 GBP
By Steve Gwenin | GVI Charitable Trust Director
The Global Vision International Charitable Trust has continued to buck recent economic trends and their effects on the third sector with donations swelling to give us our highest ever donations per year to date, over 500,000 USD. Donations increased by 84 % in 2010-2011 and due the excellent work of our ground staff at GVI, running the programs and reporting back on their progress to the fundraisers and donors who have supported the projects, we see support for the Trust continuing to grow. In 2011-2012, we have seen 130 % growth in donations. Earlier this year, we reached the goal of raising over 750,000 GBP for our projects, and aim to have increased that to 1,000,000 GBP by the end of the year. Each penny given helps support the mirade of locally directed projects we work upon and makes a direct difference locally. Our staff who co-ordinate the programs on the ground in partnership with the local organisations are able to report back in real time as to progress with the projects and the difference they are making locally. Please help us to continue the great work and achievements that we have made so far. Thank you
