Despite COVID-19: Hope still prevails among Girls

Six Girls out 20 reported to the office (KIFA)

Despite, according to the survey conducted by Center for Global Development (2020), in 32 countries; among the 98 staff at 82 different NGOs and other organizations that provide education; half of which are based in Africa; and the rest concentrated across Asia, Latin America, and elsewhere; the report reveals that COVID-19 has put the lives of millions of girls, especially in developing countries at substantial risk of gender-based violence, early pregnancies, and dropping out once schools are re-opened.

This report prompted Kole Intellectual Forum; to seek for permission from Kole district COVID-19 task force, to call a meeting between their girls and the girls which was granted; to check on the situation of their girls out of the schools which were supposed to be engaged in home economics; but would not take off because of the effect of COVID-19 from March 15, 2020.

In the findings; out of 20 girls recruited for the program; before COVID-19, only 6 have reported to the office of Kole Intellectual Forum; the rest are at large; although we are still to establish facts about them; but it has been assumed to be an event which is related to the report from the Center for Global Development(2020).

Directors of Kole Intellectual Forum; encouraged the few who reported to their office to be patient and wait for their program that will take off soon when the lockdown is unlocked.

COVID-19: Boys Potential Education Delayed

With the need to understand the eagerness of listening deeply to the situation of the had been engaging young potential boys of Kole Intellectual Forum, who had been undergoing skill training in welding under GlobalGiving project report, Children's potential: Positive Change, link at:

In june 24, 2020, the organization could not wait to see the delay project because of COVID-19 to empower these boys at Kole District not discuss; mainly to:

See that: these boys after completing their skill training at Human Technical Development Training Center, Lira, Northern Uganda in partnership with VSO; the organization, Kole Intellectual Forum, with the fund it is getting from GlobalGiving Crowd funding Platform; that, they make these boys to start-up a Welding workshop; but, unfortunately, because of lockdown arising from COVID-19; the organization cannot do otherwise; they have to wait until the situation is unlock.

However, with permission for Resident District Commissioner, Kole; Head of Kole District COVID-19 Task Force; the organization organized a brief meeting to see that, that they remain committed to their promises; and on the other hand, in that very meeting, instead, the organization that has modified its activities to address prevention of spread of COVID-19; committed these youth to remain with them during this lockdown and help them to empower their communities with information about the scourge; detailed on Kole Intellectual Forum’s GlobalGiving project report link at: https://www.globalgiving.org/dy/v2/pe/progress-report/edit-progress-report.html?project.projId=31562&progressReport.id=149929

Learn little bit about the history of the organization, that:

Kole Intellectual Forum is a Community based Organization; that was formed by the indigenous children of Northern Uganda; after the end of civil that took their region close to about 30 years from 1971 to about 2005; broadly to contribute towards reconstruction of their region; and because of that, when the team of the organization came in touch of the platform of GlobalGiving; they explored it widely and broadly on how the system works that made them to believe that: the power of great ideas can come from anyone, anywhere, at any time and move the world to another level.

These made them to build confident in everything they have been doing from since 2015; although it had not been so easy for them to go through the GlobalGiving accelerator; by March, 2018 the organization managed to go through the accelerator; and since then, the organization has bounced from the tail of all the organizations on the platform of GlobalGiving to No.1 three times; in 2018, 2019, and 2020.

We are therefore confident that: with widely experience we have acquired from then; we will not only maintain our position of No.1 on the platform but we will use the four core values of GlobalGiving; that is, Listen, Act, Learn and Repeat to keep us effective and efficient to not to GlobalGiving platform, but to the communities we are serving.

We have listened and acted in many concerns of our community: from poor performance in education, to sustainable and potential education to then at present preventing spread of COVID-19 in Uganda.
