After months of work with our local partner, Jabungu Foundation, the Sarame Environmental High School now has access to clean drinking water!
In a region where water is scarce, drilling to a depth of 135 meters was already a feat. But even after drilling and treating the water, it contained too much fluoride to be consumed. Thanks to the construction of a 50,000 L water tower and the installation of a purification system, we were finally able to make this water safe and drinkable.
In May, the electricity connection enabled the purification unit to operate. As a result, the high school now provides access to clean and consistent water, even during droughts, to the students and residents of Magugu.
A big thank you to our partners involved in this project without whom none of this would be possible! EDF Group Foundation, Architects Without Borders - France, Merck Foundation, Kirishsoi Women Empowerment, Laura Tarimo, Chrislight Company, Gescod, HUMANIS, Omnibüs Conseil, Big Family, La Main du Coeur, Active Human and Mon meru.
The next step: building the cafeteria and kitchen to provide each student with a healthy meal every day. A key component for the health, food security, and self-reliance of the entire community!
