The completion of Phase Two of the USAP Community School campus construction has marked a transformative milestone in our journey, evolving our site from a place of learning into a vibrant, residential intellectual community. This phase successfully delivered ten new housing units across five buildings, strategically split between six residences for non-teaching staff and four fully furnished guest houses. Designed to complement the architectural integrity of Phase One, these structures incorporate sustainability-focused features that ensure long-term environmental efficiency while providing a modern, comfortable home for our community members.
The impact of this development was felt immediately as the first term of 2026 drew to a close. Just days before the break, our guest houses were fully prepped and furnished to welcome our intersession instructors. This was a significant "proof of concept" for our new facilities, as we hosted three distinguished educators whose presence enriched our campus culture. Mr. Eric Khumalo traveled from Bulawayo to immerse our students in "The Art of Computational Impact," while Miss Tapiwa Chikungwa guided them through the introspective journey of "The Art of Self." Simultaneously, the campus was filled with the resonant traditions of the Mbira, taught by Sekuru Mandinga. Having these instructors live on-site allowed for a level of mentorship and cultural exchange that extended beyond the course time, that would have been impossible without dedicated guest housing.
Beyond hosting visitors, the completion of staff housing has fundamentally strengthened our internal community. With our non-teaching staff now living on or immediately adjacent to campus, USAP Community School has fostered a more connected and supportive environment. This proximity enhances our responsiveness to student needs and makes the daily operations of the school more practical and sustainable for our team, contributing directly to staff well-being and retention.
Together, these additions have fortified USAP Community School for innovation and holistic education. We are now more capable than ever of hosting convocation speakers, artists-in-residence, and visiting educators from around the world, allowing them to engage directly with our students in a meaningful way. We are deeply grateful for the continued support and generosity that made this milestone possible. As we celebrate the success of our first residents and the conclusion of a landmark term, we look forward to a future of even greater collaboration and growth.
