Getting ready for a great 2016 at Jugando Aprendo!

Clown Show at the Ludoteca
Clown Show at the Ludoteca

Dear Friends,

We hope you had a Merry Christmas and we wish you a happy 2016!

Jugando Aprendo started its Christmas activities decorating its center with the help of children and adolescents in child domestic work and the promoters. The decoration was perfect for the “Chocolatada” (hot chocolate party) we had at the Ludoteca. The children enjoyed a clown show, participated enthusiastically in several activities and dances and they all received a present at the end of the day. The celebration was very entertaining and our kids had the chance to spend quality time with friends and family.

During the last workshop with the mothers of children and adolescents we also had a little celebration. We took the chance to collect their feedback on the activities they carried out during the past year with our psychologist Jennifer. They felt they had improved a lot in several areas, such as:

  • Expressing their feelings and emotions;
  • Improving the communication with their partner;
  • Improving the communication with their children;
  • Improving their self-esteem;
  • Finding a safe space to share their experiences and dedicate more time to taking care of themselves;

They also told us that they really appreciate the support the promoters and the psychologist provide.

During school support sessions at the Ludoteca, we started to implement educational games. This strategy has increased the skills  and focus of our children, who learned a lot and shared what they learned with their younger friends. The promoters organized crafting workshops with recycled products. They created Christmas decorations that the children could than take home to decorate their houses.

Of the 35 children who regularly attend our center, most have passed with excellent grades. Three girls and three boys were the first of their respective classes. This is is a great achievement for Jugando Aprendo.

During January and February the children are on holiday. For many of them this means more work. However, we want these holidays to be a cheerful time. For this reason we are going to start a program called LUDOVERANO and organize theatre, dance, pastry, first aid and crafts workshops.

Thank you for your trust and support!
