Empowering Elderly Lives: Providing Nutritious Meals and Dignity to Vulnerable Seniors

Respected Philanthropist,

Greetings from SERUDS!

We would like to begin by expressing our heartfelt gratitude for recognizing our charity as the Most Effective Nonprofit Organization for the year 2021 by the GlobalGiving Foundation USA. Your support and trust in our mission have played a crucial role in our ability to continue serving those in need.

Our journey began in 2009, after the devastating floods in Kurnool, which left many elderly people vulnerable and without support. Since then, we have been dedicated to serving the unfortunate elderly population by providing nutritious midday meals, thanks to your timely donations. To ensure we could serve these meals effectively, we established a well-maintained kitchen at our Old Age Care Center, where we prepare and distribute sanitized meals to elderly women in need.

In the aftermath of the floods, many households were displaced, and entire families migrated to other cities and states in search of work. The elderly parents, left behind by their children who had become migrant laborers, found themselves in dire situations. With age-related health issues, these elderly individuals were no longer able to work and were left to live in isolation. Some of them did not have children to care for them and were living in thatched homes with no means of support.

Recognizing this urgent need, we took it upon ourselves to provide daily nutritious meals to 30 elderly individuals, aged between 60 to 90 years, residing in the slums of Budhavarapeta, near the graveyard in Kurnool. The meals we provide include steamed rice, dhal, sambar, curd or buttermilk, pickle, and seasonal fruits, ensuring they receive a balanced diet. In addition to meals, we also donate clothes, such as sarees and blouses, during festive seasons. For example, we recently celebrated the Diwali Festival on November 4, 2021, bringing joy and happiness to the elderly community. We celebrate all festivals with the elderly to spread happiness and dignity among them.

Our initiative has greatly improved the health and well-being of these elderly individuals, who now live with greater dignity and joy. With the continued support of donors like you, we are able to provide not just food but also the warmth of care and compassion. Your contributions to this cause have empowered these elderly individuals, and we are deeply thankful for your kindness.

Thank you for your generous donation towards the empowerment and well-being of poor elderly people. Your support continues to make a meaningful difference in their lives.

Warm regards, The SERUDS Team
