In a small corner of his shelter in one of the refugee camps, our student Ayyham sits at a modest table, opening his books and notebooks with a determination far greater than the space that surrounds him.
But what stands out even more is the wall in front of him, covered with phrases he wrote in his own handwriting:
“Standing on your feet may give you a small space,
but standing on your dream gives you the whole world.”“We must leave an impact and walk with purpose.”
These words are like windows through which Ayyham looks out to a world far beyond the limits of the camp, a world he believes will open its doors to him one day, through effort and perseverance.
Despite the narrow space, Ayyham expands his horizons through learning.
And despite the harshness of camp life, he continues to carve his own path toward a better future.
At Masarat, we see in Ayyham’s story the reflection of every student who dares to dream despite pain, and to learn despite hardship.
Thank you to our supporters on GlobalGiving, you are the reason students like Ayyham can see beyond the walls that surround them and begin building a future that transcends today’s reality.
