PROTECTING GIRLS THROUGH AWARENESS

By Othieno Gerald | Project Leader

Dear Supporters,

Your continued generosity is helping us create safer communities where girls can grow, learn, and thrive without the threat of early marriage. We are pleased to share progress made during this reporting period.

Awareness remains one of the most powerful tools in preventing child marriage. Throughout the quarter, our team conducted community sensitization activities that engaged parents, teachers, religious leaders, and local authorities. Discussions focused on children's rights, the importance of education, and the long-term consequences of child marriage.

These conversations encouraged many families to rethink harmful practices and consider the opportunities that education can provide for their daughters. Parents increasingly recognize that keeping girls in school contributes to stronger families and healthier communities.

Girls participating in the project attended mentorship and life-skills sessions that helped build confidence and resilience. Participants learned about goal setting, decision-making, leadership, and self-advocacy. Many expressed renewed determination to complete their education and pursue future careers.

Schools continue to play an important role in supporting vulnerable students. Teachers have reported encouraging improvements in attendance, participation, and overall engagement among girls involved in project activities.

Community leaders have also strengthened efforts to identify and respond to cases of child marriage. Their involvement is helping improve child protection systems and increase accountability within communities.

While challenges remain, we are encouraged by the positive changes taking place. Increased awareness is leading to stronger support for girls and greater commitment to ending child marriage.

Thank you for making this important work possible through your generous support.
