Dear supporters, family and friends of Serendipity,

With your support, Serendipity is changing the lives of women, children and their entire families in rural communities in Kano, Nigeria. By providing them insecticide treated nets, first line malaria drugs and health education on environmental cleanliness and home management of malaria when the doctor is not around , we fighting the battle against malaria. We are transiting into malaria eduction for two community secondary schools in two new communities in Kumbotso Local Government council in Kano (Another local government council). A curicculum is being developed for the schools which was not completed before schools were out for the christmas break but concluded now and thus in our next report will feature an educational programme for the schools towards achieving total prevention in the community on malaria.

Recently, through your kind donations we conducted with malaria spot checks in the community healthcare center where tests were conducted on twenty (20) women using rapid diagnostic test kits; and we are pleased to state that out of the twenty women only three of them tested positive!!

We are excited that our campaign on the importance of sleeping under Insecticide Treated Nets and keeping the surroundings clean to reduce the breeding ground of the malaria vector paid off in our first community in Madobi and thus we are scaling up our interventions to a new local governing council in Kumbotso. First line medicines such as Folic Acid and Ferrous Fumarate were also given to the women as well as Insecticide Treated Nets to encourage them and the rest members of their family to continue sleeping under ITNS.

Our campaigns will step up with your support, kind words and advice on how to help us on our project to end malaria in rural communities in Kano; you can follow us on twitter @serendipityHea1, like our Facebook page on /serenhealthcare, LinkedIn/samirahfaruk or via email serenhealthcare@gmail.com to know more about our work.
