We are delighted to provide this report - updating you on the training and the girls in Freetown.
The formal opening of the building (including the computer lab and the library) took place on March 28th 2012. The German Ambassador in Sierra Leone was the guest of honor and he declared the building open. Funds for the construction of the building were provided by / through the German Embassy in Sierra Leone.
The German Ambassador said at the ceremony that he believes that this lab is the best computer lab in the entire country of Sierra Leone. He said the lab is awesome and better than that of NEC, which the German Embassy supported. He expressed ''lots of thanks and appreciation to GlobalGiving and Develop Africa for their support''. We are so very thankful to you - as you have helped to make this lab one of the best computer labs - if not the best in the entire country!
The building also includes a complete library of books that is augmenting and supporting learning at the school. Develop Africa has contributed books towards this library and we plan to continue doing so.
Regarding training, the semester ended in June and we had a closing quiz competition. We will provide some more information on this including a video in the next report. In August, we are planning to restart computer classes.
We are excited about this on-going opportunity to transform the lives of these girls. Together we are preparing them for relevance in our increasingly digital society and for employment / owning their own businesses. We appreciate your on-going support towards this. Please make your best donation today towards this. Thanks for your support!
