First Scholarships coming in from FYA/YPWB

By Sophie Birkett | Charitable Trust manager

Dear Supporter,

As I mentioned in my previous report, we have set up a partnership with the Federation of Young Australians program Young People Without Borders.

Through the FYA program Young People Without Borders (YPWB) we will be offering merit-based grants to disadvantaged participants from Australia who have done exceptional charity work in their own communities. We want to be able to offer these individuals the opportunity to volunteer with a global organisation.

Today's youth face an opportunity divide–a gap between those who have access to the skills and training they need to be successful, and those who do not. According to the International Labor Organization (ILO), some 200 million people are unemployed, 75 million of which are between the ages of 15 and 24. Both developed nations and emerging economies alike are struggling to create pathways to employment for their young citizens.
In 2014, YPWB will be offering scholarships for young Australians to take placements with GVI in 2014. They will be highlighting to the GVI Charitable Trust individuals who are disadvantaged but have a lot of potential and do great work in their own communities. These individuals will be eligable for the National Scholarship program, made possible by your donations and support.

Many thanks for your support.
