This is Angelica, a lovely, smiley and kind girl from a colorful, but small, town called Cáqueza in Cundianamarca, the state that holds our capital, Bogotá .She is 13 years old and is full of life, even though she lost her right leg due to an infection (gangrene) just a few months ago.
Angelica and her family, as many other Colombian amputees’ families we attend, had to travel a long way to our only offices in La Estrella, Antioquia. Despite a four hundred miles trip will always be exhausting, this one was totally worth it when she got her new chance at life: her new leg!
In Mahavir Kmina Artificial Limb Center, we accompanied Angelica and her family in all the process: our wonderful team gave them medical, social and psychological attention, plus personalized engineer attention for design her prosthesis, and, now, after almost a year since this fighter lost her leg, she can walk, run and go to school again, all this thanks to your help and generosity! She is ready to catch up with everything she left behind!
Angelica overcame the biggest challenge she has had in her short life and, with your support, we can keep giving more children and teens, from all around the country, the opportunity to do it, as they develop property and grow happy and healthy!
So, once again, THANK YOU for being their silent hero!
