Coastal farmers benefited through livestock

By M. Sabrin Ahmed Roty | Project Leader

The coastal region of Sundarbans is a disaster-prone area due to its geographic location. The people of this region live under the threat of natural calamities and agricultural activities are quite challenging in this region due to its higher salinity level. People of this region depend on the forest resources and sometimes risk their life to harvest the resources. BEDS has been working for the livelihood improvement of the Sundarbans coastal community since 2013. BEDS have conducted several skill development training to the local community people like tailoring, organic farming, integrated farming, livestock rearing, mangrove based product development, mangrove nursery establishments and so on. BEDS also supported local community people with duck, chicken, sheep and now the local people are getting much benefit from the livestock. Their economic condition has been improved and they have become self-depended.

BEDS is currently trying to raise funds from GlobalGiving platform in order to help those marginal people in the way of income generation for their better future with better economic conditions. We also hope that through taking support from various corners they will be able to use their products for earning their sound livelihood.

We would like to thank all our donors for being so kind to us so far. We are requesting all our kind donors to start monthly recurring donation. For recurring donation, please visit the followinglink; https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/livelihood-improvement-for-fishermen-families/
