Waverly had been working abroad when covid hit. She chose to stay abroad, work from her apartment and ride out the pandemic overseas. Waverly loved the quietness of Rome during covid restrictions. She often walked around her neighborhood enjoying the relative silence which she had rarely experienced before.
Waverly emailed a Pathways' advocate after she had been sexually assaulted during one of her evening walks. The way Waverly described it her attacker literally "jumped out of the bushes" and pulled her back behind them. Waverly screamed and a woman that lived close by, also on an evening walk, witnessed the attack.
The man quickly ran away when the woman arrived at the scene. Waverly told us she was terrified. If the other woman hadn't have shown up, the assault would have been so much worse.
Waverly asked for help with local resources as she wanted to find an English speaking counselor in Rome. She did not want anyone to know what had happened and needed confidentiality. Pathways' successfully connected Waverly to a counselor and Waverly loves her. She is helping Waverly work through the trauma of the assault.
Without donors like you we would not be able to provide support to victims like Waverly. Thank you for caring.
