Our aim at Salariin Kampuchea has always been to provide a safe and social environment in which young Cambodians can gain the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to work their way out of poverty. We have begun the third Sexual Education and Social Education and Career Training course at Salariin Kampuchea. Please read on to find out more about our first social education for the 3rd life skill generation.
For the last few months, we have gone straight to our plan. We continue registration for new life skill students to fill the seats. As a result, there are 30 students enrolled and they are studying in the program that is divided into two teams.
Firstly, the students learn a few subjects. These include how to do a presentation, self-esteem and team work. As a result, the students are able to do a presentation using skills learnt, including voice projection and non-verbal gestures in a public environment. They understand and realize what kinds of self-esteem there are and how to build self-confidence. Furthermore, they build relationships with their classmates to make teamwork.
One of our life skill students provides her feelings about a lesson she has learnt from the program. “I understand better how to do a good presentation, know about human behavior and values, and particularly how to adapt and work in a group discussion. I think life skills are important for all people to study as it brings us a better future and a better life in society”.
In the next three months, we would like to visit hotels, restaurants and vocational training centers to guide them about future careers in the hotel industry, provide some idea about what kinds of jobs they would consider for their own future as well as continue with their social education and communication skills.
We are very proud to have provided this extremely valuable course, and we would like to thank all donors again who supported us through Global Giving. With the help of our partners at Global Giving, and you, we hope to keep building on this and moving forward with our personal and career training program.
Warm regards,
The Salariin Kampuchea Team
