Kole Intellectual Forum has development a new innovative approach in the selection of their students for the academic year, 2026. This new approach, Community Engagement is seen as that tool that is offering several benefits to their educational institute because, it is providing to them (KIFA) a more holistic view of applicants beyond traditional metrics system like test scores and GPA that they had been doing before.
The result of this assessment is bringing to them, an/a:
- Holistic Assessment: that is providing the insight into a candidate's real-world skills, values, and character, such as empathy, teamwork, problem-solving, and civic responsibility, which might not be evident in academic records alone.
- Alignment with Mission: Institutes with a strong public service mission can use community engagement as a key indicator of whether a student's values align with the institution's goals and whether they are likely to contribute positively to the campus culture and wider society.
- Diversity and Inclusion: Emphasizing community work can help identify promising students from diverse backgrounds who may have faced systemic disadvantages but demonstrated resilience and initiative through their local involvement.
- Predicting Future Success: Students actively involved in their communities often develop strong leadership and communication skills, which are valuable predictors of not just academic success, but also future career and life success.
In summary, integrating community engagement into the selection criteria allows an institute to choose students who are not only academically capable but also well-rounded individuals committed to making a positive impact.
