SUCCESS STORY

Un Mundo bets a lot on local human resources, and works on all its programs promoting volunteering as an agent of sustainable change for rural communities.

TESTIMONY:

It was 2010, and when I was barely 10 years old, I heard about the story-time programming carried out by the Un Mundo organization, and how happy the children were participating. I was invited to participate in this activity, which was carried out by employees of the organization, and in some cases, by children from the community. After the first day of participation, I fell in love with this program, and I wanted to attend every day, I was aware of the entry time, and when the activity ended, I did not want to go home. My interest was so great that I decided to learn a lot, in order to be the facilitator of this activity. In a year of participation, I was chosen when I was just 11 years old, to carry out story hours in my community, where other children participated, younger, equal and older, and that made me feel proud of myself.

Later, when I was 14 years old, I began to lead a program called Bibliobandido, which is a kind of mobile library, with a variety of recreational activities, to visit neglected communities, with limited access to information and educational resources. Now with 20 years of age, and with 10 being a volunteer of the organization, I became a Senior Mentor, coordinating all literacy activities in 9 communities where the program is located.

And just like my experience, there are other young people who are in key positions within the Un Mundo organization, which makes us feel enormous pride, since we have been able to grow personally and professionally, starting a university career, serving as inspiration to other children. This is what makes Un Mundo different from many organizations in the country, it firmly believes in human potential, regardless of conditions or educational level. It is an inclusive organization, which provides opportunities to grow, and believe in yourself.

For other young people to follow in my footsteps, I invite you to give us your collaboration and support for this program, and serving as a link with family and friends so that they make their donation, so that they join this noble cause.
