21st March, International Day of Forests. Bangladesh Environment and Development Society (BEDS) always have celebrated this day by taking some initiatives. This year BEDS celebrated this day with some community and school students. The main motive is to promote the knowledge about the importance of mangroves in the coastal area. Students are very quick learner and they can aware the other local community for the mangrove plantation.
30 students were participated in this mangrove plantation programme. They came to know about the importance of plantation, the benefits of mangroves, and the responsibilities of them to save the mangroves etc. Through this initiatives BEDS wants to encourage the students and local people.
Some special guests attended this program on that day. Dr. Hideki Sato, representative of japan Environmental Education Forum and Dr. Sarder Safiqul Islam, Professor of Khulna University enjoyed the day observation program. They welcomed everyone to come and plant Mangroves. Finally Chief Executive of BEDS invited local people to work with them and plant more mangrove plants to make a better environment and better life.
