Mangroves: The lungs of our coasts

To halt the damage of mangrove and compensate in nature, Bangladesh Environment and Development Society (BEDS) a community-based non-profitable organization working in the south western coastal region in Bangladesh. BEDS have a dream that 700 km of coastal features a dynamic deltaic environment area turn into mangrove belt for the protection from river bank erosion, protection from natural disaster, improving livelihood through mangrove-based product processing. Packaging and marketing. So, the most importance is mangrove plantation, protection and conservation. In that sense local community are playing a vital role to create the mangrove forest in coastal belt by the financial support of well-wisher donor community.
BEDS and community people are working together for the mangrove conservation and restoration by their both participation and contribution. We are always grateful that our all of well wisher are supporting us for these activities.

Our planet is surviving in a vulnerable condition. To protect from this threat, mangrove restoration is only one way beside following environment friendly industrialization in all over the world. Bangladesh Environment and Development Society (BEDS) is a root level local organization that is working for the environmental protection through livelihood improvement. By restoring mangrove that absorb carbon more than 6 times than the others species. In that case, BEDS is working with the help of local community who are fully engage to plant and regenerate this mangrove restoration. So, BEDS dream is to convert the country in a green planet and without the support of the other it’s can run. So, we are eagerly hopeful that all of the people with be a part of plantation.

Bangladesh Environment and Development Society (BEDS) is a community led non profitable organization that is working for the mangrove restoration and conservation. BEDS believe that restoration is not only the solution because without the participation of community and their contribution, no organization can’t success in restoration activities. In that case, BEDS always works for conservation initiative by dissimilate knowledge among the community. Local community always participate in this conservation initiative and enhance the knowledge by learnings session.
