Besides the awakening of the children of 5 years attending rural nursery schools there are other impacts of this type of school on the young children
In most villages there are several ethnical groups. Children of those different groups attending nursery school learn how to live together. This helps in the cohesion of the village.
Another impact is hygiene. Children are learning to wash their hands with soap before they come in class, after they have been to the toilets and before they have their meal. Also they have to come each morning with a clean uniform / cloth.
Children when at home, tell their mothers that she has to wash her hands before cooking. They also ask for soap to wash their hand before the evening meal and tell family members also to wash their hands.
Each of the children attending nursery school get a water bottle thanks to the Dutch foundation "Join the Pipe". It will be his/her bottle for the whole school year. They will take it home at the end of the school year. This is to teach them to drink from a clean bottle and not from their hands which might not be clean.
Teaching the adults through their children is a very effective method.
Thank you for your support to those young children.
