Build a Safe School Toilet for 500 pupils

A school sanitation project should not only address today's challenges but also provide a solution that serves future generations.

Mwanagiri Primary School has depended on its existing pit latrine for approximately 40 years. Over time, the facility has deteriorated and reached full capacity, demonstrating the importance of investing in appropriate and sustainable sanitation infrastructure.

Our intention is to construct a new toilet facility that will serve the school's growing population while providing a safer and more hygienic environment for many years.

We want this project to be more than a temporary response to an urgent problem. We want it to become a lasting investment in children's health, dignity and education.

Through proper planning, appropriate construction materials and technical guidance from qualified personnel, we hope to establish a facility that meets the school's sanitation needs.

Community members have also expressed willingness to contribute labour once the project receives the necessary financial support. Their participation will encourage ownership and strengthen the community's commitment to maintaining the facility.

In addition, we intend to promote regular cleaning, responsible use and proper maintenance to protect the investment.

A sustainable toilet facility will benefit current pupils, future learners, teachers, volunteers and community members who use the school premises.

We believe that every child deserves to study in an environment supported by reliable sanitation infrastructure.

Sustainable school development requires cooperation between parents, teachers, local leaders, donors and the wider community.

At Mwanyagiri Primary School, the need for a new toilet has created an opportunity for stakeholders to work together towards a shared solution.
