Build a Safe School Toilet for 500 pupils

A child’s experience at school is shaped by many factors, including the availability of basic facilities that support their daily needs.

When pupils lack access to appropriate sanitation, they may experience embarrassment, discomfort and anxiety. Such experiences can affect their confidence and willingness to participate fully in school activities.

At Mwanyagiri Primary School, the current sanitation challenges have made it increasingly important to establish a new facility that responds to the needs of the growing school population.

Children should be able to approach teachers when they need assistance without feeling ashamed or afraid of being judged. They should also have access to facilities that respect their privacy and personal dignity.

The proposed construction project aims to improve these conditions by providing a more appropriate sanitation environment.

We want to support a school where children feel comfortable attending lessons, interacting with their classmates and participating in daily activities.

This improvement is particularly important for younger pupils who require additional guidance and protection when using school facilities.

We believe that small but essential infrastructure improvements can make a meaningful difference in children’s everyday experiences.

Providing adequate sanitation for a school population of more than 500 pupils requires careful planning, appropriate construction and a commitment to long-term maintenance.

At Mwanyagiri Primary School, the existing toilet facility is approximately 40 years old and has reached a condition where it can no longer adequately serve the school community.

Continuing to depend on an outdated facility is not a sustainable solution. The school requires new infrastructure that responds to its present needs and can serve learners for many years.

Our objective is to support the construction of a durable sanitation facility using appropriate building materials, proper technical guidance and responsible project supervision.

We understand that successful infrastructure development requires more than raising construction funds. It also involves ensuring that the completed facility meets appropriate standards and has a realistic maintenance plan.

We therefore aim to work with qualified construction personnel, school representatives and community members throughout the implementation process.

After construction, the school community will be encouraged to establish clear responsibilities for cleaning, maintenance and responsible use.

We want this investment to provide lasting value rather than becoming another facility that deteriorates because of poor management.
