We enhance the quality education through different activities and competition which we integrate variety activities in our program. Please see what we have done for the last three months for the social impact.
Following up Workshop
Each month, our teachers teach and learn about basic hygiene lesson before and after the class. The subject integrated in the program in our school to young learners. They learnt about hand washing and how to keep hands cleaned. All pupils had chance to learn the theory and practical exercise after the session. Finally, they realized to wash their before eating and after leaving the water closet are important to avoid from any illnesses and keep healthy.
To enable to keep environmental cleaning awareness, our English teacher makes a weekend project called “Empower Young Children to Environment”. With 15-20 pupils have participated in the environmental workshop every Sunday. They learnt about how to keep an environment around our school clean. The pupils are encouraged to share and propose their ideas. Then they write their own guideline for cleaning and classify rubbish. As the results, the pupils realize what they should do to keep their school environment clean and able to put rubbish to the correct bins.
Spelling Bee Competition
We arranged and conducted a Spelling Bee Competition event with our students who have participated in our English program in our school has improved students’ learning process and outcome. It was a great success and impact to the quality of education in our school. First and second round elimination conducted in each class for single elimination for a final competition of Honey (700 words) and Busy (1200 words) Bee to find champion spellers.
In the Final Spelling Bee Competition, the winners who passed second elimination competed each other for the champion spellers of 700 and 1200 English words. As the result we found two champion spellers from Busy Bee (first and second place) and three champion spellers (first, second and third place) from Honey Bee. Furthermore, the champion spellers were encouraged to the spelling bee awards.
What changes and impact
Before the competition, our students participated in the competition learnt harder. They tried to read the 700 and 1200 words in the school before and after their classes. They learnt how the words spelled, part of speech and how to make a sentences. They spelled and remembered the words in the list again and again when they had spare times at home and at school. They learnt how to concentrate and set their goals because they wanted to win and become a champion speller. Overall, we think that the spelling bee competition inspires and motivates students learning harder to improve their English language skills.
One student, Sopheak expresses her feeling and proudness about participating in Spelling Bee Competition and First Place winner for 1200 champion speller. “My name is Sopheak. I am very happy to join the competition. After getting 1200 English word sheets, I try to study very hard. I spend most of the time to spell and remember the words, how to use them in the sentences and their part of speech. I do this when I am at home and at school before and after my class. Sometimes, I do it with me friends when we are at school. I do it every day. After a period of time, I observe myself that my English is increasing and improving. I am satisfied with my achievement for the champion speller and winner. Especially I am very happy with winner awards, dictionary, books, pens, pencils and certificate of achievement. I would like to recommend to my friends and schoolmates, please try your best for next competition for champion speller. Thank you very much to Salariin Kampuchea school and esp. teachers who have supported me so far and arranged this competition”.
In the next three months, we will conduct a certificate party and will continue environmental workshop with children at our school. We will conduct a mid-term and final test for English language program. We hope you all continue supporting us.
