Protecting the Health of Colombian Orphans

Hello! We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support to our project.

Thanks to you, we can take advantage of the solidarity that health professionals offer us for the benefit of the children we welcome and care for at CRAN.

This is the case of an Odontological Center named Muelitas y Molares, which opened its doors for the children. There they offer us consultations for 8 children each week. However, we must cover the cost of transportation, the people accompanying the children, the medicines and the orthodontic instruments and appliances.

With your contributions to our health project we cover what is necessary to ensure that children can have the treatments they require.

Most children when they enter CRAN have oral health problems, from caries to more serious situations such as abscesses and inflammations. In the last consultation, the dentist formulated a child with an antibiotic that we could acquire immediately with the resources of the project. Otherwise, we would have had to wait a lot for the procedures in the public health system, putting the child's health at risk.

We thank you enormously for protecting and caring for children and for making possible that they recover their rights, especially the right to have a family for life.

¡Hola! Queremos agradecerte de corazón por tu apoyo a nuestro proyecto.

Gracias a ti podemos aprovechar la solidaridad que profesionales de la salud nos ofrecen en beneficio de los niños que acogemos y cuidamos en CRAN.

Es el caso del Centro Odontológico Muelitas y Molares, que nos abrió sus puertas para atender a los niños. Allí nos donan las consultas para 8 niños cada semana. Sin embargo, debemos cubrir el costo del transporte, las dos personas que acompañan a los niños, las medicinas y los instrumentos y aparatos de ortodoncia.

Con tus aportes a nuestro proyecto de salud cubrimos lo necesario para garantizar que los niños puedan tener los tratamientos que requieren.

La mayoría de niños cuando ingresan a CRAN presentan problemas de salud oral, desde caries a situaciones más graves como abscesos e inflamaciones. En la última consulta, el odontólogo le formuló a un niño un antibiótico que pudimos adquirir de inmediato con los recursos del proyecto. De otra manera, hubiéramos tenido que esperar muchísimo por los trámites en el sistema de salud público, poniendo en riesgo la salud del niño.

Te damos un gracias enorme por proteger y cuidar a los niños y por hacer posible que recuperen sus derechos, en especial el de tener una familia para toda la vida.

Hello! We want to thank you because you care for and protect the children we welcome in CRAN until they recover the love of a family.

Without your support and the support of many friends of our cause, guaranteeing the right to a healthy life for children would be a very difficult challenge to overcome. And it starts because many children who enter CRAN are not affiliated in the health system.

After ensuring their affiliation, the difficulties are the access to services with opportunity and relevance. For children to be referred to a specialist, they must first be evaluated by a general practitioner or pediatrician. This is a bottleneck, because the schedule of appointments is delayed and becomes very congested at certain times of the year, for example, in the cold and rainy months.

In Bogotá, in the public health system, medical specialists are very scarce, so it takes months and months to get an appointment of otolaryngology, neurology, orthopedics or psychiatry.

Every day without the medical evaluations, the exams and the delivery of medicines is a day against the children.

Thanks to you we can take the children directly with the specialists. And we can practice the exams that the specialists order and give them the medicines that they formulate.

Valuations and medical examinations are also fundamental in the search process of the most suitable families for children declared in adoptability. Accurately determining the health status of children is key to finding the best adopting family that can guarantee their care.

And also thanks to you a caregiver always accompanies them to their medical consultations and exams and they have a safe transport.

¡Hola! Te agradecemos porque tú cuidas y proteges a los niños que acogemos en CRAN hasta que recuperan el amor de una familia.    

Sin tu apoyo y el de muchos amigos de nuestra causa, garantizar el derecho a una vida saludable de los niños sería un reto muy difícil de superar. Y empieza porque muchos niños que ingresan a CRAN no están afiliados al sistema de salud.   

Luego de asegurar su afiliación, las dificultades son el acceso a los servicios con oportunidad y pertinencia. Para que los niños sean remitidos a un especialista, primero deben ser valorados por un médico general o pediatra. Este es un cuello de botella, pues la asignación de citas es demorada y se congestiona mucho en ciertas épocas del año, por ejemplo, en los meses de frío y lluvia.

En Bogotá, en el sistema público de salud los especialistas médicos son muy escasos, por lo que toma meses y meses lograr conseguir una cita de otorrinolaringología, neurólogía, ortopedia o psiquiatría.

Cada día que tardan las valoraciones médicas, los exámenes y la entrega de medicinas es un día en contra de los niños. 

Gracias a ti podemos llevar a los niños directamente con los especialistas. Y podemos practicarles los exámenes que los especialistas ordenan y darles las medicinas que les formulan.

Las valoracionesy los exámenes médicos son además fundamentales en el proceso de búsqueda de las familias más idóneas para los niños declarados en adoptabilidad. Determinar con precisión el estado de salud de los niños es clave para encontrar la mejor familia adoptante que pueda garantizar su cuidado.

Y también gracias a ti una cuidadora siempre los acompaña a sus consultas y exámenes médicos y tienen un transporte seguro.
