Salariin Kampuchea provides capacity development through different activities to our students and staff. Over the last three months there have been many positive changing activities and achievements within our organization, which continues to improve our beneficiaries’ growths and development for our community.

Culture exchange and integration

In October, our director had an exchange program with learning centers in Mongolia and had a good cooperation and partnership. He learnt a lot from his visit in Mongolia. With good exchange and partnership program, Salariin Kampuchea students did pen friends with Mongolian students. They shared their cultures and gained English writing letters to one another.

For example, our student, Panhvoan, one of our students in general English program. He mentioned his feeling about himself, his family and his country -Angkor Wat temple. I am very happy to make friends with Mongolian people. I hope to see my friend from Mongolia to visit me and I will bring him to Angkor Wat and other temples in Siem Reap province

Christmas celebration

25th of December last year, our school celebrated Christmas day with over 200 children at our school. Everyone enjoyed celebrating a new culture of western countries. Everyone danced and sang Christmas songs together with their friends and their teachers outside of their classrooms in school hall. Everyone exchanged their gifts with friends and they gave their gifts to their teachers, too.

For example, one of our students, Reaksa expressed her feeling about joining Christmas day. “I am very excited to be here. I am so happy to dance, sing Christmas songs together with my friends and my teachers. Especially, I got some gifts from my friends and I also gave them cakes and candy. We really enjoyed it very much. I wish next year my teachers and my school celebrate it again here.

Public English-Speaking Contest

In late December 2024, our school arranged and organized a final public English-Speaking contest in our school. The goals are to promote English speaking environment, encourage students to apply presentation skills and to build the self-confidence of young learners in our learning center. We found that our students learn better and study hard when we organize competitions in our school. More than 150 students did the semi-final of public speaking contest. Some of students eliminated during the semi-final and the ones who were eliminated learnt from their failure. Finally, 59 students participated in the final speaking contest. 12 students won the speaking contest with range number 1, 2, 3 in different groups/levels and they received awards.

Our student, Dorin, one of our students studying English in level 5 expressed her feeling about Public Speaking Contest. “Hello! My name is Dorin. I am 10 years old. I won the second place in the final competition. I am very happy for my achievement even though I am not first winner. It fulfills my study hard that I did before the contest. I got awards, silver medal, study materials and letter of recognition. I would say thank you very much my teachers and my school that organized this competition so everyone can have chance to apply for their English speaking. The contest built my self-confidence and public speaking skills. I would like my school to organize it every year”.

In the next three months, we are going to conduct toothbrushing project, toothbrushing activities with children. We will give them one toothbrush and one toothpaste for over 200 children. We are going to arrange Khmer New Year party and lucky draw program for children. We are going to build and fix our school’s toilet and school roof.

We would like to thanks everyone, friends, partners who have supported us so far through GlobalGiving with your hard-earning money. Width your help we hope to continue and build upon the success of our non-formal education program.

We wish every success, happiness and enjoy it with your family and friends!

 Warmest regards,

The Salariin Kampuchea Team
